The 6th West African Clean Energy and Environment Exhibition and Conference (WACEE’17) which took place from Tuesday, 7th November 2017 to Thursday, 9th November 2017 at the Accra International Conference Centre, ended on a good note.


WACEE ’17 was well-patronized by professional visitors, corporations and students with an interest in renewable energy. The three-day exhibition and conference recorded an excess of 1,300 visitors from various continents who were keen to know about the status of renewable energy in West Africa as well as its future direction.

Present at this year’s event were high-level officials from organizations and ministries including the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany Accra, the Ministry of Energy, Ghana and the Environmental Protection Agency, Ghana.

WACEE ’17 featured an official “Made in Germany” pavilion and a Start-up corner for indigenous Ghanaian Start-up companies.  In total, 40 top exhibitors (including 13 German exhibitors ) from over 5 continents were represented.

23 prominent speakers shared their views at the top-level three-day conference premised on the general theme: “Renewable Energy and Environmental Technologies in the Context of Sustainable Development: Future Challenges and Directions”. The WACEE ’17 conferences were made possible by the following conference partners; Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), Inclusive Business Action Network (IBAN), Yingli Namene West Africa Limited, Jekora Ventures Limited, Zoomlion Ghana Limited and Partnership in Solar Energy between EBZ (Germany) – CPF (Cameroun). Institutional and Organizational partners for WACEE ’17 included the Association of Ghana Industries, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited, Oxford Business Group, the Renewable Energy Association of Ghana, Start-Up Factory Kumasi – Paderborn, University of Energy and Natural Resources (Department of Environmental Engineering), the Brew-Hammond Energy Centre – KNUST and representatives from some member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
