Export Promotion Seminar 2016

On Wednesday 23rd November 2016, the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana (AHK Ghana) organised an export seminar as part of efforts to foster bilateral trade between Ghana and Germany. Agility Africa and SGS Ghana sponsored the event, dubbed: ‘Standards and Best Practices to reach the European Market’.

The goal of the seminar was to provide Ghanaian companies that are considering export as part of their growth strategy with more information on getting certification for export to Europe and beyond. It was also an opportunity for participants to learn about the various commodity standards.

The seminar featured speakers from several agencies and businesses involved in export and export promotion including the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, SGS Ghana, Homefoods Processing & Cannery Limited and Robert Bosch Nigeria.

His Excellency Christoff Retzlaff, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Ghana, in his welcome address to participants commented that,  “There are numerous challenges- Brexit, migration and the rise of populism and nationalism but I am convinced the EU will emerge stronger”. He further pointed out to all present that, “The EU is the strongest trading block on the planet and Germany is the centre of this economic powerhouse”.
