Siemens Ghana has launched an oil and gas training programme for thirteen students aimed at integrating and transferring knowledge to enhance the capabilities of the participants in the petroleum sector.
The initiative, which is co-teamed with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) is to educate the youth on the oil and gas sector so they take up the mandate to help in the oil and gas industry The students will undertake training for a period of nine months while been trained in various areas of technology in the gas sector.
They will also be trained in other soft skills areas to implement operations such as health and safety among others. Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Edmund Acheampong in an interview with Citi Business News said the training is aimed at ensuring competent ad skilled employees in the oil and gas sector as Siemens is poised to be key players in the oil and gas sector.
“Siemens takes Corporate Social Responsibility seriously. We are also serious about putting the right people in the workforce thus; we are particularly interested in training, not just in Ghana, but in all Siemens’ markets. This training therefore fits into the Siemens’ overall goal of training people in the industry, for the industry, “he said.
He added that “the training forms part of Siemens Ghana’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s economic growth particularly in their key focus area; energy.” Siemens Ghana is a subsidiary of Siemens global, experts in energy which is currently active in over 200 countries and has a 165 year track record in engineering excellence, innovation, quality and reliability. The training programme is a Siemens Ghana local content CSR initiative stemming from the local content guidelines of the Petroleum Commission (PC) which requires global brands to partner local firms to improve the energy sector.
