North Macedonia

North Macedonia offers a stable economic environment, competitive production costs, and preferential access to markets in the EU and the region. As an EU candidate country with numerous free trade agreements – including with the EU, EFTA, CEFTA, and Turkey – the country is an attractive location for export-oriented companies. The industrial focus lies in the automotive supply, metal processing, and textile industries, as well as in IT and BPO services. Government incentive programs, modern industrial and technology zones, and a well-educated workforce provide additional investment incentives. German–North Macedonian economic relations are close: Germany has been the most important trading partner for years and is home to numerous German investors, including in the areas of automotive supply, medical equipment, agriculture, retail, and logistics.

Albania

Albania is increasingly developing into an attractive investment location in Southeast Europe. The country scores with a liberal economic policy, competitive labour costs, and a favourable tax environment. As an EU candidate country with free trade access to the EU, CEFTA countries, and Turkey, Albania offers good conditions for export-oriented companies. Key growth drivers include the tourism, energy (hydropower, photovoltaics), agriculture, as well as the textile and footwear industries. In addition, Albania is increasingly investing in infrastructure, digitalisation, and the improvement of investment conditions. Germany is one of Albania’s most important economic partners.

Kosovo

Kosovo is a young, dynamic market with great development potential. The country offers investment-friendly conditions, a business-friendly tax policy, and a qualified workforce. As a member of CEFTA and with duty-free access for exports to the EU, Kosovo enjoys attractive market access. Key economic sectors include construction, IT services, energy, agriculture, food processing, and various service industries. The government is actively promoting innovation, digitalisation, and renewable energy.
