Apprenticeship - Employment in Germany

AHK Ghana is committed to supporting young Ghanaians in building successful career opportunities in Germany.

Apprenticeship - Employment in Germany

This initiative offers participants hands-on training in a German company (70-75%) combined with theoretical training in a Vocational Education and Training (VET) school (25-30%).

Program Highlights and Requirements:

  • Language and Cultural Preparation: Selected participants will engage in a 6-month intensive German language course, sponsored by AHK Ghana, up to the B1 proficiency level. Additionally, an intercultural training program will prepare participants for their transition to life in Germany.
  • Commitment: Participants are encouraged to self-sponsor transportation to AHK Ghana's Accra Central office, covering costs for food and other necessities during the training period. Full attendance in the German class and intercultural training is mandatory to qualify for the final apprenticeship-employment contract with the German host company.
  • Apprenticeship Details:
The program officially begins in August/September, aligned with Germany’s dual vocational training calendar, and includes a maximum 3.5-year period of both VET school and in-company training in Germany.
  • Post-Apprenticeship Options: After completing the apprenticeship period, participants may be offered a work contract with the German host company, although employment post-apprenticeship is not guaranteed. Each individual retains the right to decide if they wish to continue with the company upon program completion.

This program serves as a remarkable pathway for young Ghanaians to acquire professional qualifications and firsthand experience in Germany, enhancing their employability on a global scale.
